The Style of Contemporary Architecture

 

The term "Contemporary Architecture" is quite confusing. Contemporary architecture is a type of architecture, which includes the following types of architecture: Modular Architecture, Urban Architecture, and Classical Architecture. Like any other type of architecture, it has been a gradual evolution of its previous ancestors. The modern architectural movement threw away the traditional decorative patterns of the past. Instead, it adopted large, white facades, white lines, open-plan rooms, and flat roofs.

Modern architecture was an invention by American designer, James Corner, who used the term in his book, Contemporary Architecture for the New Century. His book became a worldwide bestseller. Corner's book was followed by several architects, who brought about the first modern contemporary architecture designs to the world. In the late 1800s, the style of design became known as the Bauhaus style. The Bauhaus school of architecture focused on simplicity, functionalism, and the integration of natural materials in all parts of the building. Its students were also responsible for the development of several buildings, including the Pantheon in Rome, the Imperial War Museum in Washington D.C., and the United States Capitol in Washington D.C.

After the Second World War, the style of architecture became known as the Postmodern era, because it represented a break from the conventions and stylistic trends of the previous century. These changes occurred in various areas of modern architecture. They included the use of metal in place of wood, the use of glass instead of natural stone, the use of computer aided designing instead of traditional draftsman, the use of unconventional forms and textures, and the use of abstract forms and surfaces.

Modern architecture's influence can be seen in many other forms of art as well. In the field of architecture, many modernist structures have been built, including the Freedom Tower, the Chrysler Building in New York, and the Empire State Building in New York. In the arts, it can be seen in the use of modern music, contemporary art, digital art, and computer generated art.

The style of contemporary architecture is not exclusive to architecture. The style can be seen in the architecture of other fields such as architecture, painting, drawing, photography, literature, and film. It can also be seen in interior decoration.

The style of contemporary architecture can be seen in many different countries around the world. The U.S. is an example of a country that uses contemporary architecture in all aspects of its lives, as the styles of this style can be seen everywhere in the US.
